I have a lot to say. I guess that's what happens when you ignore your blog for close to two months. Oops. We're having a fantastically fun and busy summer, which I think is a pretty great excuse for being scarce around here, although you may not agree by the time I finish my ramblings. I feel a smidge (what? spell check says smidge is not a word?!?! okay...i googled (which is ALSO not a word according to spell check...) and it's apparently smidgeN. whatever.) guilty because when S was little I did SO many posts about every little thing he was doing and the days just get away from me faster this time around which means less milestone posts for Andy. I'm sure in the long run this will bother me much more than it will bother Andy. Am I going somewhere with all this drivel? Maybe. Here's a cute picture to tide you over.
There have been loads of trips to our neighborhood pool, a few visits to both Tulsa and Ada, and an awesome trip to my aunt and uncle's lake house for the 4th of July. They boys had a blast with their cousins and Travis and I decided we were way old judging by how incredibly sore we were after skiing and tubing just one time.
We've had several cookouts with both new and old friends, and also finished up Schafer's first season of t-ball and a few small projects around the house. The boys kick my tail most days, but they sure are cute and hilarious the whole time they're wearing me out. We found out Andy has a dairy allergy, but cutting out most milk, yogurt, and cheese has immensely helped the awful eczema issues he was having. Yes, the eczema issues I never posted about because I was ignoring my blog. Both boys go in for doctor's visits at the end of the month, but by our scale at home...it seems Anderson only weighs about 7 pounds less than Schafer. If there wasn't such a height difference they could easily share clothes.
I love how much they interact these days. Andy has a bit of a hitting problem (namely, he smacks Schafer whenever he gets the chance and runs away laughing about it. the harder the smack and the louder Schafer's "ouch" is, the harder he laughs.), but Schafer loves him in spite of the bullying. He gets back at him by insisting that Andy dress up in various superhero costumes so he can have a "sidekick." It's funny stuff. They also have their first inside joke...who would have thought a 15 month old and not quite 4 year old were capable of such a thing? Since it's an inside joke, I'm a little fuzzy on the details, but it seems that Schafer has nicknamed Anderson "Scuff." He generally reserves the nickname for when Andy is feeling especially bummed about one thing or another at which time Schafer will look over at him and say, "Hey Scuff." That's it. Just, "Hey Scuff." and Andy cackles like it's the funniest thing he's ever heard. We have no idea where it came from and S won't tell us, but they both find it beyond hilarious.
Anderson talks a lot these days. Usually just his same favorite words over and over, but we're slowly adding in new ones here and there. He says: mom, dad, dog, cat, out, nonna, pops, up, uh-oh, that, ball, eye, cracker, and milk. I know there's more, but those are the popular ones. Especially ball and dog. He's sort of scared/fascinated/skittish/enthralled with dogs. All at the same time if that's possible. It's funny to watch.
I'll be shocked if Anderson isn't some sort of sports star. He is OBSESSED with balls. He is constantly on the lookout for anything round/circular/ball shaped and will say it repeatedly as soon as he finds something that meets the criteria. He flips out when he's on his changing table looking at his ceiling because his light fixture is globe shaped and he wants me to get the "ball" for him so. bad. Playing catch is one of his favorite past times and he has a pretty impressive arm on him.
He still drools like a great dane, runs with an adorable peg leg gait, rubs food in his hair at almost every meal, and gives the stink eye like it's his job.
He also climbs like a monkey, and laughs when I get scared that he's going to fall. Awesome.
He loves to "sing" his ABC's which sounds sort of like Ay E A Eee A Eeeee Eh to the ABC tune. Maybe I'll get a video someday...I'm just better at pictures.
I'm working on a birthday post for Schafer because he turns (gasp) FOUR years old this week. We're having his party this weekend, the weekend after that we'll be leaving for Vegas to celebrate (a bit early) for Trav's (BIG DRAMATIC GASP) 30th birthday. My 10 year reunion (no gasps allowed) is shortly after that; then Schafer will be starting preschool and fall t-ball. And so the time continues to fly :-)
